Just for the record – I am NOT in the family way. I would probably have one hell of a lawsuit on my hands it that was the truth. I don’t need swollen feet and visions of pickles dunked into crunchy peanut butter to make me happy. That I don’t have to experience that right now brings me a sense of peace.
Thanksgiving dinner made me feel like an overstuffed olive (what is this – my tribute to condiments?) My whole immediate family was all together and what I love most about it is that my nieces and nephews are real friends. They really like each other and the older ones look out for the younger ones and the younger ones long to be cool. All in good time.
My sister, Christine, who had the feast at her house, took a picture of the 13 nieces and nephews together. They range in ages from 28 and all the way down to a 2 years old.
Girls rule 7 to 6.
Two are adopted. One has a hearing problem, three are feis dancers (Irish dancing), one just became a full time teacher and heads up the drama productions in the school, one just broke up with someone we all love, but we love them more than what makes us feel good. One goes to Columbia and one is at Quinnipec in CT., one goes to a local college because Catholic college was too strict.( Amen to that. I barely made it out of Catholic HS) One suffers from an undiagnosed condition, one dreams of being a movie director. Stop dreaming. Start doing! One is deciding on who they really are. Most have their parents sense of hope. Some feel the depression their parents suffer from. My hope it that they are spared that in adulthood because their young sweet lives have been tough enough.
I was going to include a picture of them but Walter said I should protect their privacy and so I will. But it does suck that putting a picture of 13 sweet faces could be potentially dangerous for them.
So very quickly – the boys are on the tall side. My maternal grandmother was 6 feet tall and my paternal grandmother came up to my waist. The girls are on the short side, but have mouths and are not afraid to use them. Blues eyes that skipped my generation are in the majority. One favors my Italian mother just as one of her 7 kids has dark eyes and hair. Most are brunettes and only one blond in the group (besides myself). All love music and are creative. All wanted Obama except for one. okay the 2 and 7 year old live in a conservative Republican family so our work is cut out for us. I tell people that that sibling had different reading material in the womb.
I hope you got a good sense of who they are. I think most will do great things in their lives and a few just might change the world. Then I will send you all a picture of them!
